NCIBT Director Dr Marcu's Invited Talk "FLIM-guided surgical interventions"

Event Date

Moscone Center, Room 152 (South Upper Mezz)

NCIBT Director Dr. Laura Marcu will present the latest findings related to TRD1 at an invited talk titled “FLIM-guided surgical interventions.”

This presentation overviews the applications of label-free fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) for guiding surgical and biopsy procedures. We present patient studies demonstrating the potential of label-free FLIM for guidance of various clinical interventions. These include real-time intraoperative assessment of diffuse gliomas' infiltrative edges, guidance for stereotactic brain biopsies, and delineation of surgical margins and residual oropharyngeal cancer during trans-oral robotic surgery. Current results highlight the potential of FLIM as an intra-procedural tool for enhancing the management of surgical and biopsy procedures.
