Randy Carney, an associate professor of biomedical engineering at UC Davis, has been named one of eight new Chancellor’s Fellows for the year. This prestigious title is granted to early-career faculty members who exhibit outstanding contributions in their fields.
Carney’s work lies at the forefront of cancer research. His team investigates extracellular vesicles—tiny nanoparticles that all cells release to communicate biomolecular information—and how they can be harnessed for early cancer detection and advanced drug delivery systems. Additionally, they develop innovative Raman spectroscopy tools to further understand the roles these vesicles play in cancer biology.
